Selfridges continues to reinforce its commitment to authentic streetwear and support for young talent, with the introduction of a sixteen-piece capsule collection from London label Trapstar. Rooted in the references to inner-city subculture the brand is known for and housed in the capital’s most iconic department store, the collection represents a true London fashion statement: current, fearless and desirable.
Launching in the London flagship store and online at Selfridges.com on 6th of December, the range features Trapstar staples including slogan snapbacks and premium biker jackets – complete with the brand’s signature red trim detail – through to irreverent nods to Selfridges’ heritage such as the Mr.Selfridge tee.
Creative director Mikey Trapstar say’s of the collaboration:
“This project opens up a new realm for Trapstar. Selfridges is respected in landscape of UK fashion and influenced what we wore growing up in, so to now have our own collection in the store is incredible. We’re happy to have a Trapstar installation housed in Selfridges where the brand can connect with the public outside of our store, or the internet. We haven’t collaborated with another store since 2012, and when we were approached by Selfridges we were really excited to offer a collection featuring staple items to premium technical pieces that translate the journey of the brand.”
The introduction of Trapstar to Selfridges’ offer comes at the end of a year of the department store nurturing young labels and creatives. June saw the spectacular launch of Hood by Air with a presentation in the store’s car park, celebrating a unique concept with heritage label Corgi, and the third run of Bright Young Things – the store’s talent-scouting initiative which gives free reign of the iconic Oxford Street windows (in addition to much-coveted retail space) to promising UK designers.
